Specimen Collection and Handling

Collect specimens using Copan ESWAB 480C or 482C. ESWAB 482C has a smaller tip and thinner flexible shaft for access to the inner ear or sinus cavity. 482C swabs are located in the Microbiology Department at Wynn Hospital available upon request by contacting the Laboratory at 315-917-8199. Store swab specimen at room temperature and deliver to Laboratory as soon as possible, within 48 hours of collection.
